Frequently asked questions

Do I need an internet connection to use Tunnda?
No, not for everyday use. You can add people, write stories, record voices, search and export with no network at all. The connection is used to create your account, to back up your vault and to receive updates.
Is my data shared with other families?
Never. Tunnda pools nothing. Your tree is not matched against those of other users, there is no public directory, and there are no match suggestions between families.
Does Tunnda sell my data?
No. We do not sell, rent or transfer your data to anyone, and we display no advertising. The app ships with no tracking or audience measurement tool.
How is my data protected?
Access to the app can be locked with a fingerprint, face recognition or a PIN code, all verified locally by your phone. Exchanges with our infrastructure are encrypted in transit (HTTPS). On export, the information of living people is anonymised automatically.
Can I get my data back if I stop using Tunnda?
Yes. Export to GEDCOM 5.5.5, the genealogy standard, is built into the app. A readable text export is available as well.
Who can change the family memory?
It depends on the role. An Elder and a Co-admin can change anything and approve contributions. A Contributor proposes additions, which go through an approval queue. A Viewer reads. Everyone can always edit their own profile.
What if someone recorded in a vault does not want to appear in it?
Write to us. Profiles are created by families, under their own responsibility, but anyone concerned can request the deletion of the data about them, and we will pass the request on to the family vault in question.
Is the app available in French?
The app interface is in English today. The French translation is under way and is on our roadmap.
